  San Juan
San Juan appears 2nd in wine statistics of vine-planted surface (with more than 37,000 hectares) and also wine production.

It presents a set of valleys, being Tulum the most important (by the side of San Juan river), followed by Ullum-Zonda, Calingasta, Iglesia and Fertil valleys.
Height in this area ranges between 600 and 1,350 meters above sea level.

Tulum Valley stretches between 31º and 32º Southern latitude, between The Andes and Pie del Palo Hills, down the San Juan River. It is the oldest wine production area in the province. At 630 meters above sea level, rainfalls are limited and the average annual temperature is of 17.2ºC.

Malbec , Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Bonarda, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Moscatel de Alejandría and Torrontes are the most cultivated wine varieties. Syrah deserves a special mention. In San Juan, Syrah reaches a varietal expression which is well-known all over the world.
