Salta
Salta viticulture dates back to the ages of Spaniards, and it is known for having a singular productive epicenter located at the Calchaquíes Valleys.
Varied terroirs can be found in Salta. Height above sea level (ranging from 1,700 to 2,400 meter at Colomé, and 2,000 at Yacochuya or La Viña) is what makes every terroir different.
The 1,980 hectares of vineyards, plus the quality of the wines, make of Salta a very important region, although visitors feel also attracted by the landscape that frame the wine industry.
Salta offers a wide range of flavors and aromas, which are present in the fragrant Torrontés, the most typical wine variety in the area. Likewise, the optimum ecological conditions of Salta allow the production of formidable, intensively colored and full-bodied red wines (Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec). Chardonnay, Chenin, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Syrah stand out too. |
