History
In 1993 “Argentine Top Wines” is created within the Argentina Viticulture Association. It gathered just a dozen of exporting wineries, producers of recognized labels in the local market and only a few labels placed in the foreign market
Two years later, in 1995, the “Agreement for the Promotion of Argentine Wine Abroad” is signed by the National and State Government, (Foreign Affairs State Department, Exportar and ProMendoza Foundations, and “Promex”, which belongs to the Agriculture Ministry) and all the exporting wineries of the country.
“Wines of Argentina” is born when it is agreed that a nation brand for the wine industry should be created to be promoted at international wine events and fairs.
Wines of Argentina opens its first Press and Public Relations Office in the United Kingdom in 1998, supported by the Foreign Affairs State Department. The same year, the First Wines of Argentina Annual Tasting is realized in London.
In 1999 a special fund for the Argentina wine exports to UK and US is created.
For the first time, in 2002, Wines of Argentina presents a Seminary, with the purpose of defining the new profile of the body and the necessary resources to approach its objectives, facing the next triennium.
One year later, after a thorough market research on Nation Brand and Argentine Wine Category which was carried out in USA, UK and Germany, a new corporate image was brought to life. Specific advertising campaigns were launched in USA, UK and Brazil.
Therefore, the main objective of Wines of Argentina is to keep working on the “Argentina” brand within the wine industry, through communication activities, training programs, technology implementation and a constant search for excellence in wines. |
