MERCADO ANDINO: A trip to the Andes through its wines
From 9th to 10th September, Wines of Argentina and Wines of Chile came together for the first time to present “Mercado Andino", a fair presented in the UK that aimed to show the spirit of both countries.
Following the success of The Beautiful South, more than 140 wineries from both countries presented their new releases, labels and projects within the bustling Old Spitalfields Market, in East London.
The exhibition had its own Central Plaza, so as well as having a space for informal meetings, attendees were able to enjoy and better understand Andean wines through guided tastings conducted by the winemakers of the various participating wineries.
In addition to the exhibitor stands, and with the idea of showing what Chile and Argentina are up to with regards to wine, the fair had two themed tasting tables, where the focus was on what is hot at the moment, and recent award winners.
One table, called Pioneers gave guests the opportunity to taste wines from the new projects and styles that reflect the pioneering spirit of Chile and Argentina.
Another table, called Andean Awards, hosted a selection of the trophy and gold award winners from Argentina and Chile in the most recent, major wine competitions.
