Guillermo Barzi (s) is the new president of WofA

For the first time, WofA will have a president from a winery in Patagonia, Humberto Canale.

During the most recent meeting of the Board of Directors held on July 7, 2015, it was reported that Guillermo Barzi will serve as president of Wines of Argentina.

The statement highlighted the following:

 According to the President, Mrs. Susana Balbo, who temporarily and for personal reasons can no longer serve in office, and corresponding to the remaining period of the Presidency, the Vice President, Mr. Guillermo Barzi shall take charge of the position until the completion date of the mandate, if needs be.

Therefore, from that date, Mr. Guillermo Barzi (s) will serve as President of Wines of Argentina.

 About Guillermo Barzi

Guillermo Barzi, the younger, is the great-grandson of the founder of Humberto Canale and represents the fourth generation of the family in the management of the business of the winery that was instrumental in the development of viticulture in Patagonia, Argentina in early 1909.

He has worked as the Commercial Director since 1997, developing the marketing strategy and positioning of its wines in various international markets.

He graduated from the Catholic University of Argentina with a degree in Business Administration  and also has a postgraduate degree in Family Business Management from the IAE.

He has held various positions of responsibility in WOFA for many years, and will now hold the post of President of this organisation.

His work in the wine sector has led him to travel to many countries around the world promoting Argentine wine and in particular the wines of the colder areas of the Alto Valle del Rio Negro, made with emblematic varieties such as Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling typical of the terroir that gave rise to his winery.

Guillo, as they call him, was born 46 years ago in Buenos Aires, he is married with three sons and lives in General Roca, in the province of Rio Negro.
