The winning wines of the AWA 2013, the contest organized by Wines of Argentina and the Argentine Wine Corporation (COVIAR), were finally revealed. After a thorough tasting by 12 international and 6 Argentine judges, who tasted more than 700 samples, the Trophies were announced for the 20 categories, which in turn were divided into 5 price ranges each.

One hundred and eighty-two wineries, with a total of 710 samples, participated in the 7th edition of the Argentina Wine Awards, a competition that seeks to reward both the quality and the advancement of the Argentine wine industry. Over 250 people attended the award-giving ceremony, including wine owners, winemakers, provincial government authorities, wine industry executives, members of the judging panel and journalists. A total of 24 Trophies, 49 gold medals, 242 silver medals and 314 bronze medals were awarded at the competition.

In the Malbec category, the Trophies went to:

Trivento Reserve Malbec 2012 - Bodega Trivento y Viñedos S.A.

During the last day of the AWA, an interesting seminar was held in which the international judges presented to the audience the most successful wines and styles in each of the regions they represented. This seminar, held every year in the framework of the AWA, fosters the exchange of views in the world of wine. This year, the theme of the seminar focused on the preferences of the so-called "new generation": what they consume, innovations, opportunities in key markets and recent trends.

We are very proud to have had the chance to celebrate, with an excellent level of participation, a new edition of the Argentina Wine Awards, a contest that, year after year, has consolidated its position and has come to hold a privileged position in the international wine calendar. It has been demonstrated that Argentine wineries are endeavoring to improve the quality of our wines, and the work of Wines of Argentina has greatly contributed to the growing international recognition in this respect. The AWA 2013 winners, a token of the best of Argentine wine, will be representing us in the various actions that will be carried out throughout the year around the world," stated Alberto Arizu, President of Wines of Argentina.
