Argentina: Success at Vinexpo

Vinexpo, the world’s largest wine fair, held in Bordeaux (west of France), started on Sunday June 19, and Wines of Argentina, the organization in charge of promoting Argentine wines abroad, took the opportunity to present its new image.

Vinexpo, the world’s largest wine fair, held in Bordeaux (west of France), started on Sunday June 19, and Wines of Argentina, the organization in charge of promoting Argentine wines abroad, took the opportunity to present its new image.

Argentina’s participation has been a great success and a large number of attendees have stopped by Wines of Argentina’s stand – that brings together 36 participating wineries – curious about its new identity, which represents an upgrade to our wine industry worldwide.

At the stand, Wines of Argentina offered thematic tastings conducted by the prestigious English sommelier Simon Howland. “Argentina through Malbec” and “Argentina’s White Diversity” were some of the tastings offered to the public. The organization decided to offer these tastings in an effort to add an educational value to Argentina’s presence at the fair. In addition, those who approached the stand were invited to try some delicious empanadas, a symbol of Argentine gastronomy.

Wines of Argentina also held two seminars, which were conducted by prestigious wine personalities Michel Rolland and Tommy Lam. Michel Rolland, the renowned winemaker who has invested in Argentina and works as a consultant for Argentine wineries, spoke about the country’s diversity, which he illustrated by presenting 10 different Argentine wines. Tommy Lam, the president of the Asian Wine Institute, gave an educational talk about the Argentine wine regions and the penetration of Argentine wines in the Chinese market. During both lectures, the room was full to capacity.

Over the course of five days, from Sunday June 19 to Friday June 24, wine professionals from all around the world had the chance to visit our stand in Bordeaux and enjoy the Argentine experience by tasting wines from different Argentine regions and some good gastronomy. Visitors also had the opportunity to become acquainted with the new image of Argentine wines, which so accurately portrays them as a key element of our culture, an expression of “renewed tradition” that is unique to the Argentine soul.

Vinexpo comes to a close on Friday June 24, with an estimated attendance of nearly 50 thousand professional wine buyers from 47 countries.
