As part of its Internet positioning strategy and in order to further consolidate the brand Vino Argentino in the world, Wines of Argentina will have a space ‒ until May of this year ‒ consisting of a micro website and a listing of WofA’s activities on WineSpectator.com, one of the world’s most important wine industry websites.
Wine Spectator is one of the most influential wine publications in the United States and the world; its scores and articles direct the attention of millions of consumers to new varietals and wine regions.
WofA’s participation in the Wine Spectator’s website will also involve its presence in the newsletters sent to subscribers, with special sections and reports on Argentine wine.
About the Micro Website
Readers will have the chance to read about Argentine wines by clicking on a banner placed in the section “Wine Spectator School” (http://www.winespectator.com/school) of the WineSpectator.com’s home page. (Direct link: http://winesofargentina.winespectator.com)
This micro website, which was specially designed for WofA, includes information on wine regions, different grape varieties and varietals, gastronomy, and an invitation to try a new wine learning experience by taking part in several trivia games linked to the online info.
Wines of Argentina and its Internet Positioning Strategy
Although Malbec has already become synonymous with Argentina, the work carried out to gain new markets for Argentine wines and reach an increasing number of consumers needs to be supported by the kind of communication nowadays associated with new experiences and with the ways in which consumers currently get to know new varietals.
Since 2009 ‒ when the first tasting via Twitter was conducted in Argentina and Brazil, and Argentine wines became a trending topic ‒ Wines of Argentina has set new trends in wine communication, especially in social networks.
With more than 4000 followers on Twitter, a Facebook page with more than 2000 fans, applications like Wine Guru – unique in the world of wine –, videos on all the country’s wine regions broadcast on WofA’s YouTube and Viemo, and contests like Wine Guru Trip and Blogger of the Month ‒ all of them promoting the participation of consumers and users who are interested in winning a trip to Argentina ‒ Argentine wines are clearly flooding every web channel.
With the Malbec World Day celebration to be held next April 17, Wines of Argentina will double its stakes in order to attract more and more consumers through Argentina’s iconic variety.
