Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe visit Argentina

Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe are visiting Argentina from November 7th to 14th. Gismondi and Tobe are journalists for Wine Access magazine (www.wineaccess.ca) and the Gismondi On Wine website (www.gismondionwine.com).

Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe are visiting Argentina from November 7th to 14th. Gismondi and Tobe are journalists for Wine Access magazine (www.wineaccess.ca) and the Gismondi On Wine website (www.gismondionwine.com).

Their itinerary will include winery visits, vineyard tours, tastings and dinners with wine sector personalities in Mendoza and Cafayate. They will also participate in a tasting of icon Argentine Malbecs and of vintage wines, in a special session with Argentine expert Fabricio Portelli.

More specifically, their activities will include winery visits and tastings in Luján de Cuyo, in the province of Mendoza (Cheval des Andes, Kaiken, CAP Vistalba, Tapiz and Trapiche), in the province of Salta (Yacochuya and Etchart) and back in Mendoza, this time in the Uco Valley (Doña Paula and El Zorzal).

In addition to this, they will attend dinners with representatives of the following wineries: O´Fournier, Ruca Malen, Viña 1924 de Ángeles, Pascual Toso, Mendel, Jean Bousquet, Salentein, La Riojana, Séptima, Familia Zuccardi, Dominio del Plata, Catena Zapata, Luigi Bosca, Doña Paula and Trapiche, in Mendoza; and Félix Lavaque, Michel Torino, El Porvenir and Colomé, in Salta.

Anthony Gismondi was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and moved to British Columbia in 1972, where he attended Simon Fraser University. He has been writing about wine since 1983 and has been a weekly columnist at the Vancouver Sun since 1989. His comments are read throughout the national and international wine communities. He is Executive Director, in charge of international wines, at Wine Access – Canada’s Essential Guide to Wine and Food, and a consultant for Air Canada – the country’s largest airline –, where he provides advice on the selection of wines for in-flight catering. A writer, announcer and lecturer, in 2002 he launched the wine website www.gismondionwine.com, which contains a large wine database as well as stories and reports on his work and adventures in the world of wine.

Stuart Tobe is a regular Wine Access contributor and a tasting panel member. He is also Director of Tastings for Gismondionwine.com. He has a BSc in Biochemistry and Microbiology, an MSc in Enology and Viticulture from the University of California at Davis, an MBA, and he is a CFA charter holder. He has been active in the wine industry for over 30 years and has worked as an assistant enologist in several countries, in addition to his work as a management consultant in the beverage industry worldwide. He is also former president of the Vancouver Australian Wine Appreciation Society and a council member of the Vancouver chapter of the Commanderie de Bordeaux. He has also fulfilled judging duties in numerous wine competitions in Canada and other countries. At the same time, from his base in Vancouver, Tobe continues to provide business consulting, valuation and planning as well as financing and investment research services for non-resource related industries, including wine sector clients.
