The centerpiece event of the Playhouse Wine Festival, the Bacchanalia Gala Dinner and Auction, took place on the evening of April 21. This Gala is the largest fundraiser in the year for the Playhouse, the main regional theatre company in Vancouver.

The event featured a luxurious dinner and a charity auction of wines from different countries, dinner parties, tours to the Rocky Mountains, and even a trip to Buenos Aires and Mendoza under the sponsorship of Wines of Argentina and Inprotur (the Argentine Institute for Tourism Promotion), with the support of LAN Airlines and the Hyatt Hotel. This auction lot, which was sold for 14,500 Canadian dollars, was the greatest bid in the Gala.

Living up to its name, the Bacchanalia gathered 550 guests from Vancouver’s high society, who had the chance to taste three different wines with each course in the menu. The Argentine Consul in Toronto, Ambassador Julio Miller, and the prestigious Ambassador of Argentine Wine, Julio Bocca, honored the guests with their presence. Amidst loud applause from the audience, Julio Bocca gave out the voucher for the trip to Argentina to the happy winner, who will live an unforgettable experience in the land of tango and wine.

Analía Morales and Gabriel Ponce, tango dancers of the Ballet Argentino directed by Julio Bocca, were invited by Wines of Argentina to enhance the activities of the Fair with the beauty of their art.
