WofA organized the greatest promotional action of its history

Argentina’s greatest wine promotion event ever, organized by Wines of Argentina, took place on Tuesday, October 19th in the city of New York, with the presence of Mendoza’s Governor, Celso Jaque, and the participation of 104 wineries. The event, held at the Altman Building, brought together distributors and consumers from all around the United States, a market in which Argentina experienced the highest growth in sales in the last years.

This year, Wines of Argentina’s Annual Tasting consisted in a number of seminars aimed at on-trade representatives (wholesalers who sell wines to supermarkets, wine shops and restaurants) and consumers, who had the chance to taste some of the more than 700 samples offered by the 104 wineries from all wine regions, from Salta to Patagonia.

Precisely, the event was intended to show the diversity of Argentine wines through a seminar given by Gloria Maroti Frazee, wine educator of the US magazine Wine Spectator, who described all the Argentine wine regions and spoke about the potential of the different varieties, particularly Malbec and Torrontes.

According to Mario Giordano, general manager of Wines of Argentina – which is presided by Alberto Arizu (Jr) –, this gathering was “of great importance due not only to the quality and quantity of the attendees but also to the high interest that the public showed toward Argentine wines.”

The Annual Tasting is the largest promotional action out of the 220 planned by WofA for its 2010 agenda, and is included in the framework of Argentina’s Wine Strategic Plan (PEVI), whose promotional strategy abroad is in the hands of Wines of Argentina.

The closing, with the performance of Bajofondo Tango Club, was one of the most outstanding moments of the day. The band is led by Gustavo Santaolalla, who is also ambassador of Argentine wine and a winegrower at his own vineyards in Lunlunta.
