Bodega: EL PORVENIR DE CAFAYATE
El Porvenir de Cafayate is a small family owned winery located in Cafayate, Salta. The family’s 80 hectares of vineyards are situated at an incredible 1,750 meters above sea level in the rugged terrain of Cafayate, in the north of Argentina. This region naturally offers ideal conditions for the growth of exceptional vineyards because of its unique climate of sunny days, low humidity and a large day-to-night temperature fluctuation perfect for nourishing high-quality grapes. The winery is dedicated to crafting small quantities of exceptional wines, and annual production is limited to approximately 150,000 bottles. Like all great winemakers, the family believes that quality begins in the vineyards, and so maintains fanatical control and care throughout the process, from planting to harvest. This care continues in the winery, where only the best state-of-the-art winemaking equipment, including a double selection belt and a gravity flow feature to transport the grapes easily and effectively to the tanks. Prestigious consultant winemaker Paul Hobbs, from the United States, contribute to create a uniquely international-style wine. All the red wines are then aged in French and American oak barrels. The result is some of the best wine coming out of Argentina. Lines of Wines: AMAUTA was the Wise Man in the Inca Empire, “he who teaches how to live”. This line is composed of red wine blends and a Syrah. LABORUM means “from our work” and reflects our commitment to making great wines: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat, Torrontés and a Late Harvest Torrontés. PORVENIR is a blend of four grapes and it is the Icon wine of the winery. The name means “the future or what is to come” and we believe this wine is the best expression of Cafayate terroir.
The family behind Porvenir, the Romero-Marcuzzi family, chose to use the sacred Incan cross as their symbol as an homage to the Incans who inhabited the Andes in the 15th century. They were wise observers of nature and distinguished farmers, and El Porvenir tries to maintain their traditions and their respect for “Pachamama” or Mother Earth.
