Argentina has made history by winning more International Trophies at the Decanter World Wine Awards than any other country, since the competition began in 2004

Scooping six of the 25 possible awards, Argentine wines were celebrated in a selection of categories including Best Dry Aromatic under £10, Best Red Bordeaux Varietal and Best Single Red Varietal.  Cementing Argentina’s position as a key player amongst the world’s leading wine-producing countries, the award wins represent the UK’s growing appreciation for wines from Argentina.  With four of the six trophies presented to the under £10 categories, the awards highlight the excellent quality of Argentina’s value-priced wines.

The Decanter World Wine Awards is the most prestigious and trusted wine competition in the world.  Winners are selected from over 12,000 entries and scrupulously judged by over 200 of the world’s Masters of Wine, top sommeliers, wine critics and writers.  Hosted at the Royal Opera House, the cream of the world’s wine industry were in attendance to celebrate the award wins.

Andrew Maidment, Europe Manager for Wines of Argentina comments, “We are absolutely delighted with the results.  It’s a fantastic credit to the quality of wine coming out of Argentina that is notably of the highest standard.  We are pleased that such a wide selection of varietals have been awarded.  People often associate Argentina with its flagship grape, Malbec, so it’s an excellent testament that blends and white wines have also won their categories.
