Wines of Argentina has organized the “Independent Retailers Competition”, a contest aimed at awarding the best performing retailers in England.

Wines of Argentina has organized the “Independent Retailers Competition”, a contest aimed at awarding the best performing retailers in England.

The goal of this competition is to find retailers who are able to truly communicate Argentina’s uniqueness, fill their clients with enthusiasm, offer them special services, and obviously sell large volumes of wine. There will be 5 winners, who will be awarded a trip to Argentina to attend the 2011 edition of the Argentina Wine Awards next February.

At least 40 stores from around the country are expected to participate.

Those who want to be a part of this competition should meet certain requirements: they should be independent and have a brick-and-mortar store, not just an on-line store; their listing should include a minimum of 10 Argentinian labels, and they need to show a real interest in Argentina’s wine industry.  

The call to participate in this competition has been published in the May and June print and online issues of the specialized trade magazine Off License News. Agents and wine importers have received email invitations from Argentina and been requested to forward them to those retailers they work with.   

In order to enhance this promotion, in the course of September, Wines of Argentina will offer classes to all retailing store staff on how to make wine-talk entertaining and will put up a micro website to showcase their specials.
